A pickup truck was hit by a train near Claremore on Wednesday, sending the driver of the truck to a Tulsa-area hospital. He is listed in critical condition. Witnesses told police that the train operator did not appear to be speeding and was sounding the train’s horn before the collision. An investigation as to the cause of the crash is underway.
When trains collide with cars, trucks, and motorcycles, it is often the result of negligence on the part of the train operator. Train operators may be fatigued or distracted at the time of the crash. For example, an investigation into a recent California train crash revealed that the train operator was text-messaging just before the accident. In other cases, improper maintenance of the train, tracks, or signaling devices at railroad crossings may have caused the crash. If you have been involved in any kind of Tulsa accident, you should contact an experienced Tulsa accident attorney to discuss your case.

My clients often ask me if they are required to give a statement if contacted by the other driver’s insurance company. My answer is always, “NO!” As a Sperry auto accident attorney, I know how insurance companies work. As soon as the at-fault driver notifies his or her insurance company that there has been an accident, victims who were injured in the accident can expect to be contacted almost immediately. Be aware that insurance adjusters are trained professionals who will stop at nothing to get injured victims to settle for as little money as possible.
If you are injured in a Sperry auto accident, you are not obligated to give a statement to the at-fault driver’s insurance company - even if you were injured while a passenger in the insured vehicle. Insurance company lawyers don’t represent you. Their job is to save the insurance company as much money as possible by getting injured victims to settle for far lower than what their claim is worth, waive their rights to compensation altogether, or admit fault in contributing to the cause of the accident. Don’t let this happen to you. If you have sustained an injury in a Sperry car accident, it is essential to contact an experienced Sperry auto accident lawyer to protect your rights and get you the compensation you deserve.
If you have been injured in a Sperry auto accident, call 1-800-980-9205 today to speak with an experienced Sperry car accident attorney before answering any insurance adjusters’ questions. A car and an SUV collided early Thursday morning, sending the driver of the car to the hospital. According to reports, the driver of the eastbound SUV was hit by a southbound car when attempting to make a right turn. Fortunately, the hospitalized driver of the car is listed in fair condition. The driver of the SUV was not injured in the crash.
Unfortunately, failure to observe basic traffic rules causes a significant number of traffic accidents each year. These accidents, which occur because drivers are distracted, tired, or in a hurry, can result in severe injuries and even death. If you have been injured in a Carbondale auto accident, contact a skilled Carbondale car accident lawyer to discuss the details of your case. A Sapulpa man lost his life in a tragic single-vehicle crash early Monday morning, Tulsa World reported. Police say that speed was a contributing factor in the crash. The man was not wearing his seat belt when he hit the median of Highway 97, causing his pickup truck to roll five times. He was ejected from his vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
As a Tulsa accident attorney, I know firsthand that using safety belts can save lives and help prevent personal injuries when auto accidents occur. In Oklahoma, every front-seat passenger is required by law to buckle up. In addition, children under the age of 6 must be secured in a federally-approved child safety seat. Children under the age of 13 must be wearing a seat belt while riding in the front or back seat of the vehicle. Observing Oklahoma’s seat belt laws can help prevent tragedy in the event of a Sapulpa car accident.

Fortunately, no one else was injured in the crash.

A semi carrying sludge from Collinsville crashed while heading Southbound on Highway 169 in Owasso Wednesday night. The 60-year-old driver lost control of the big rig before veering into the northbound lanes of traffic. Witnesses reported seeing the truck driver, who died at the scene, slumped over the wheel of the truck before the crash. There were no other injuries reported in the accident. Owasso Police believe the driver may have had a medical condition, but the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
Although it doesn’t appear to be the case in this accident, Owasso truck accidents are often caused by the negligence of truck drivers or trucking companies. A trucking company may be deemed negligent in causing an Owasso truck accident if it fails to maintain its fleet in reasonable condition or fails to ensure the qualifications of its drivers as a means of preventing a foreseeable risk to other motorists. Truck drivers have a legal responsibility to observe a minimum standard of care when loading, inspecting, and operating a commercial vehicle. Drivers who fail to exercise this care may be liable for negligence in causing an Owasso truck accident. If you have been involved in an Owasso truck crash, an Owasso truck accident lawyer can help you determine who is responsible for your injuries.

The Law Office of Jeff Martin & Associates would like to wish everyone in the Tulsa area a happy and safe New Year. On this day of all days, it is important to exercise extreme caution if you must get behind the wheel. While DUI task forces will be set up throughout the Tulsa area, there will still be many drunk drivers on the road. And even sober, designated drivers may be distracted by other occupants in the vehicle, which increases the risk that they will be involved in a car accident.
Liberty car accident injuries can have a devastating impact on an accident victim’s life. You may be unable to work, require expensive medical care, and be unable to enjoy once loved activities after the accident. Don’t let the other driver’s insurance company shortchange you by accepting a low settlement offer. The Liberty car accident lawyers at Jeff Martin & Associates can fight to get you full compensation for your injuries.

A driver fleeing police early Monday morning ran several other motorists off the road as he reached speeds upwards of 100 mph. The high-speed chase started in Sand Springs, where the driver of a Chevy Camaro refused to stop when police attempted to pull the vehicle over. A passenger in the Camaro was arrested after the vehicle ran off the road and hit a tree. The driver eluded police. Luckily, no one was injured in the chase, but speeding plays a significant factor in many Sand Springs auto accidents.
The Sand Springs auto accident attorneys at Jeff Martin & Associates use our vast experience and resources to prove negligence on the part of a speeding driver in order to obtain the highest monetary reward for our clients. Under Oklahoma law, all motorists are required to drive at a careful and prudent speed that is reasonable under the circumstances. Any speed in excess of the following speeds is evidence of unreasonable driving:
-
25 mph in marked school zones
-
35 mph on any state park or wildlife refuge highways
-
55 mph on county roads
-
70 mph on four-lane divided highways and super two-way highways
-
75 mph on the turnpike system or on rural portions of interstate highways
-
65 mph in all other locations

If you have a teenage child approaching driving age, you may be wondering whether you should place your teen in a driver’s education course. You should know that auto accidents are the number one cause of death to teenagers. Nearly 4,000 teenage drivers are killed each year in the U.S. Enrolling your child in an Oakhurst driver’s education course can give your child the experience necessary to stay safe while driving on Oklahoma’s roads.
Driver’s education courses are offered in many public schools in the Tulsa area, including Oakhurst. There are also a number of private driver’s education courses you can sign your child up for if it is not offered at his or her school. Although private courses offer less opportunity for your teen to learn, both in the classroom and behind the wheel, they are still a better option than not enrolling your child in any driver’s ed course. A third option is to sign up for a Parent-Taught Driver Education packet from the DMV.
If you or your teen has sustained a personal injury in an Oakhurst auto accident caused by another driver’s negligence, contact the experienced Oakhurst auto accident attorneys at Jeff Martin & Associates today at 1-800-980-9205. Our Oakhurst car accident attorneys represent victims of personal injury in Alsuma, Bixby, Broken Arrow, Carbondale, Collinsville, Coweta, Dawson, Douglas, East Tulsa, Fisher, Garden City, Garnett, Glenpool, Gray, Jenks, Kengle, Lake, Leonard, Liberty, Lotsee, Lynn Lane, Mingo, Mohawk, Oakhurst, Oak Ridge, Owasso, Prattville, Price, Red Fork, Sand Springs, Sapulpa, Shirk, Sperry, Turley, Tulsa, Turley, Union, Watkins, Wekiwa, and West Tulsa. I was saddened to hear that a child died in a West Tulsa car accident last week. Six people were riding in a pickup truck near the Sand Springs Expressway Monday afternoon, when the driver of the truck hit an icy patch on the road and lost control of the vehicle. One of the passengers - a three-year-old child - was killed in the single-vehicle crash. The other passengers, including two other young children, were transported to a local hospital to be treated for their West Tulsa accident injuries. Police believe the driver of the truck, who was arrested on negligent homicide charges, was driving too fast for the weather conditions.
Unfortunately, some of the most tragic West Tulsa auto accidents involve children that are not properly restrained in child safety seats. In order to help keep them safe during the winter months, children should always be secured with proper child restraints when riding in a motor vehicle. However, even when properly restrained, children can be seriously injured in West Tulsa car accidents. If your child has been injured in an accident caused by another driver’s negligence, a West Tulsa auto accident attorney can help you get full compensation for your child’s injuries.

Our West Tulsa car accident attorneys represent victims of personal injury in Alsuma, Bixby, Broken Arrow, Carbondale, Collinsville, Coweta, Dawson, Douglas, East Tulsa, Fisher, Garden City, Garnett, Glenpool, Gray, Jenks, Kengle, Lake, Leonard, Liberty, Lotsee, Lynn Lane, Mingo, Mohawk, Oakhurst, Oak Ridge, Owasso, Prattville, Price, Red Fork, Sand Springs, Sapulpa, Shirk, Sperry, Tulsa, Turley, Union, Watkins, Wekiwa, and West Tulsa.
